Supporting Children Through Development & Fundraising
Independent schools are committed to providing superb teaching and exemplary academic standards in an atmosphere that nurtures the innate gifts, critical thinking skills and leadership qualities within children. Friends schools in particular strive to preserve economic diversity and allow as many children as possible to reap the extraordinary benefits of a stellar education. While these realizations are laudable, they are also costly. Tuition dollars fund a substantial portion of the expense, but not all. At HFS, tuition generates approximately 80% of the school’s total revenue; about 82% of tuition supports faculty/staff salaries and benefits, which are comparatively moderate. The remaining 18% is used to help fund program enrichment, professional development and general operating expenses.
In most independent schools, tuition does not cover the true cost of educating children. The gap between what schools charge and true cost can range from $1500 to as high as $7000. This year at HFS the gap is about $2300. Click on the links to view our various fundraising opportunities and determine how you might help support HFS students.
