Community Service

Service Projects

Service projects are an integral part of school life at HFS. All students have the opportunity to participate. Some recent service projects include: visits to a rehab center (1st grade), visiting and bonding with grand-buddies at a local assisted living facility (2nd grade), making blankets for Project Linus and collecting books for Booksmiles (3rd grade), and gathering cold weather gear with a mitten tree (4th grade). Middle School students take turns coordinating and preparing meals as well as entertainment for residents of Ronald McDonald House. In the spring our Middle Schoolers help to reforest Wissahickon Park. For MLK day, every class comes in to school and participates in a project- everything from making greeting cards for the local rehabilitation center to making sandwiches for a local soup kitchen.
