Middle School Excels at Science Fair!
Middle School Excels at Science Fair
Dear HFS Family,
This school year is passing all too quickly, and our traditional spring events are upon us! Before Spring Break, our middle school students, not surprisingly, mind you, took the lead in the Coriell Science Fair, a competition that draws contenders from some of the best public and independent schools in the in Delaware Valley, otherwise known as the “tri-state” area (NJ, PA, DE and even parts of MD). I say “lead” because while other schools send only their crème de la crème, we send all of our students to this prestigious science competition, and every year, relative to the select numbers of students representing various schools, our students dominate the event. In our eyes, however, all of our middle school students are winners, whether they walk away with public awards or not!
This year 13 middle school students were acknowledged as follows:
First Place Winners: Steven Alfano, Engineering; Kyle D’Souza, Physics; Cassian LeJeune, Microbiology; Drew Meyer, Consumer Science
Second Place Winners: Christopher Howe-Smith: Medicine & Health
Third Place Winners: Megan Gaffney, Medicine & Health;Mitch Hogan, Consumer Science (check out his interview on ABC News!);Cheyenne James, Zoology;Nikki Rink, Behavioral Science
Honorable Mention: Brittany Eachus, Behavioral Science; Jessica Rosenberg, Behavioral Science; Nadir Shakir, Engineering
Coriell Award for Excellence in Science: Dhalil Sadiq
Coriell Award for Enthusiasm in Science: Christopher Howe-Smith
To add to the excitement, our own Tr. Susan Miles won an award for generating the highest percentage of winners in any given school over the past several years! On behalf of the entire HFS Community, I offer hearty congratulations to the entire middle school and Tr. Susan for their fine work. You ALL make us proud!
In Peace,
Sharon Dreese
